Meditating on Psalm 18:28
“For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness” (Psalm 18:28).
Good morning.
I’m sure you’ve been in situations without obvious exit signs. If there were a way out, it must be hidden because you don’t see it. It’s almost like you’re walking in darkness, bumping into objects as you try to navigate a bumpy, dangerous, or lonely terrain.
I felt this way when I was going through my cancer treatment journey. I felt alone. I was clueless about all things cancer-related. I didn’t know what the future held, whether I’d see my daughter’s 10th birthday or not.
When it seemed all hope was lost, God spoke a Word to me that relit the spark. He promised me the illness wasn’t unto death. He told me to LIVE. During that season of darkness, the Lord was my light. He lit my candle and brought light and hope to a dark situation. God shined His countenance on me and gave me strength, joy, and peace that were inexplicable. Because of His light, I was able to go through chemo and radiation treatments with a smile on my face.
The Lord lit a light in me in October 2013 that’s still burning today. The light of the Son burned brightly, giving me hope and a future. Today, I’m using my candle to light other people’s candles. I’m sent to tell people about the brilliance that is in God. I’m here to tell others there’s no need to walk in darkness. God is here for you just as He was /is there for me.
You are not alone, Dear One. You are not forsaken, regardless of how much you may feel that way. Hold on to God’s unchanging hand and let Him lead and guide you.
Although we’re tempted to close our eyes when we’re afraid, open your eyes, beautiful child of God, and behold the light of the world shining all around you.
