Meditating on Psalm 8:1

“Oh Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!  Who has set thy glory above the heavens,” (Psalm 8:1).

Good morning,

I woke up this morning thinking about God, wanting to write about Him.  I opened my bible to a particular Psalm, but 8:1 caught my eye instead.

David wrote, “…how excellent is thy name in all the earth!…”  His name is indeed excellent.  His name evokes powerful emotions in those who love Him.  His name brings comfort and hope.  His name give us courage, strength, and boldness.  His name is safety, security, protection.  His name heals.  His name provides.  Calling on that excellent name is THE answer to all life’s issues.

Regardless what we face, His name is excellent, reliable, dependable.  It’s better than any other name on, below, or above the earth.  Most names remind us of a particular attribute.  For example, Michael Jackson, entertainer.  Beyonce, entertainer.  Bill Gates, Microsoft.  God’s name is good for every situation!

Whatever we need, His name provides.  Whatever you’re facing, I encourage you to call His name.  His name is Excellent for everything we need.
