Meditating on Psalm 17:8
“Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings” (Psalm 17:8).
Good morning.
I tried to move on from Psalm chapter 17. Honestly, I did! This last verse was calling. I always say I’m the apple of His eye, so it was natural for me to write about this verse.
What’s meant by “apple of the eye”? When someone is the apple of your eye, they are your pride and joy. The apple of your eye is someone you love immensely. The apple of your eye has your focus or attention and favor. The apple of your eye is protected and secure. You think about the apple of your eye ALL the time. You look for ways to bless the apple of your eye.
And that’s what Believers have with God. He’s concerned for us. He protects us. He hides us from the enemy. He hides us “under the shadow” of His wings, and no one can snatch us from that place of protection and comfort.
Do you understand how much God loves you? Do you know you are the apple of His eye? Do you know the breadth, length, depth, and height of His love for us in Christ (Ephesians 3:17-19)? Accept His love for you and be secure as the apple of His eye.

Thank you, Aretha dear. After receiving some disheartening news last night, your post is an uplift. Being His sweet apple and receiving His favor outweighs worldly judgements. May God bless you today, Julie
