Mornings with God

Meditating on Psalm 4:8

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makes me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).

Good morning!

It’s difficult for me to sleep when I’m stressed.  Whatever the situation I’m going through, it keeps repeatedly playing in my mind.  I usually toss and turn all night and then wake up tired instead of refreshed.  Have any of you experienced something similar?  Let’s talk about it in today’s devotion.

Every day we’re faced with stressors. The bible calls them the cares of this world.  We worry about our children, finances, extended families, jobs, churches, and even the chaos we read about in the news.  We take those stressors to bed and then can’t enjoy our sleep because of the worry and stress.  Worry and stress are wastes of time for us.

Whatever is on your heart right now, I urge you to spend today praying over those issues.  Spend some time seeking the Lord’s comfort and wisdom for those situations.  Spend time in praise and worship.  Take time to turn on gospel or inspirational music and make a joyful noise before the Lord.

When it is time to sleep, sleep in peace knowing that you have a special Someone working things out on your behalf.
