Abundant Living

3 Ways to Regain Your Enthusiasm

Have you ever started something and then quickly lost enthusiasm for it? Perhaps you started writing a book or blog, exercise plan, or healthy eating habits. You may have started classes toward a certification or a degree but then stopped.

That has happened to me many times since I started my blog, ReeINSPIRED, in 2016. It also happens to me whenever I sit down to draft a book. I begin with enthusiasm, but then that enthusiasm wanes.

Does that sound like you? If so, here are three simple things we can do to keep our enthusiasm:

  1. Remember why you started
  2. Stick to it, despite how you feel
  3. Ask the Holy Spirit for help

Why Did You Start?

Simon Sinek wrote the wildly popular book “Start with Why.” We must remember why we started our venture. Remembering our “why” can help us stay committed to our goals.

Stick to It

Regardless of boredom, apathy, or disinterest, we must stick to our plans, especially when we believe the Lord gave us our “why.” Despite how we feel, we must see our plans through to completion.

Help!

Christians have a power source that I am convinced many of us do not consider when it comes to our everyday plans, goals, or habits: the Holy Spirit. He can help despite how we feel about a particular thing. He can help us keep our joy and give us ideas and creativity to complete what the Lord instructed us to do.

I created ReeINSPIRED simply to encourage women. I wanted my website to be a place Christian women could visit to find inspiration and hope. Although I have often allowed distractions and my feelings to take precedence over my writing and publishing, my goal for ReeINSPIRED hasn’t changed. So, I must return to writing on my blog to encourage and inspire women.

In the future, I will publish encouraging posts bi-weekly (sometimes weekly). Some of the topics I will write about include:

  • Growing spiritually
  • Living abundantly as a 50 + woman
  • Writing (especially the benefits of journaling)
  • Living as a breast cancer patient or survivor

We mustn’t allow a lack of enthusiasm to prevent us from doing what we know in our hearts the Lord has called us to do. The Holy Spirit can do what enthusiasm can’t—keep us focused.

Until next time,

Aretha
