The Power of Consistency
Do you need to make a change in your life? Yes? Good, pull up a chair. I want to talk with you for a few moments about the power of consistency.
Let me ask you a question: How much progress could you make in the area of your life you want to change if you went ALL IN for one year? If one year seems too far away, what if you went all in for six months or six weeks?
I want, no, NEED to lose weight. In the past, I’d start a weight loss program, see some success, and then stop. I’ve been on this vicious cycle for a long time. But I wonder what would happen if I went all in on my weight loss efforts for six weeks – six months – one year. I’m talking about eating healthfully and exercising consistently. I wonder what kind of success I could see.
Right now, you may be nodding your head. You know exactly where I’m coming from. Perhaps your goal isn’t to lose weight. Maybe yours is to get a job promotion or certification in a particular area. Perhaps you want to study your Bible or pray more consistently. As you read this, some of you are thinking about your marriage or your kids or some home improvement project you’ve been putting off for a while. And finally, some of you are thinking about how much you could save or how much debt you could pay off if you went ALL IN.
In last week’s post, I said that change is inevitable. I was talking about unexpected changes. However, there are some changes that we desire to make. If there are changes you want to make, I believe consistency in doing the right things is the key. Unfortunately, many of us do the right things inconsistently and then become discouraged because we don’t see the results we want.
So, here are three things we can do to go ALL IN and be consistent: 1) Make up your mind, 2) Make a plan, and 3) Execute the plan consistently.
Who’s going to go ALL IN with me? If you’re committed to going all in for at least the remainder of 2022, drop a comment below saying, “I’m all in.”
I believe that with the Lord’s help, our dreams will become a reality.
