Don’t Be Anxious
Week 15 of the Overcomer’s Blog Series
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 4:6-7, NASB).
Philippians 4:8 teaches us what to think. Overcomers don’t constantly think about what they’re going through. They know if they only think and worry about their problems they’ll become depressed and more anxious.
Regardless of what you’re going through right now, I need you to focus on Philippians 4:6-8. I need you to stop being anxious. I need you to stop worrying. I also need you to lift everything up to the Lord in prayer, believing He hears you and is going to take care of you.
Remember to keep a heart of thanksgiving as you lift everything up to God in prayer. Learn to give thanks to Him for everything. When your mind is bombarded with negative thoughts, replace those thoughts with the things listed in Philippians 4:8. Choose to meditate on what’s true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. Thinking about the things Paul instructs us to think on in Philippians 4:8 will increase and strengthen your faith. Speak those things aloud into the atmosphere. And be on guard against anyone who brings you negativity.
As you change your lifestyle to walking as an Overcomer, people aren’t going to be excited for you. Those people will try to remind you of your past, your failures, your mess ups, what you used to do, and who you used to behave. I need you to run for your life away from them until you grow stronger in the faith. Please don’t allow Negative Nancy to hinder your blessing from the Lord. Keep your mind on Him and let Him deliver you.
